With antineoplastic activity, Capecitabine is a fluoropyrimidine carbamate. It is an orally directed systemic prodrug of 5'-deoxy-5-fluorouridine (5'-DFUR) that is transformed to 5-fluorouracil. 5'-deoxy-5-fluoro-N-[(pentyloxy) carbonyl]-cytidine is the chemical name for capecitabine. It is a cancer medication that inhibits the development of cancer cells and reduces their spread in the body. It is used to treat colon or rectum cancer and breast cancer that has blowout to other portions of the body. It is often used in combination with other cancer medications and/or radiation treatments.
